| Yr 9 into Yr 10 Information Night | Wednesday 22 July |
Parent Student Teacher Interviews
Parent Student Teacher Interviews will be held next Wednesday 24 June. Booking information will be emailed to you via the Secondary School Office. Interviews will occur via Zoom and are a fantastic opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers. To make the most of this experience, we encourage students to attend prepared with specific questions about their progress and the course.
Communication with Teachers
As students move into their final stages of school, your child will start developing more independence. These changes will start affecting the way parents communicate and connect with the school. Students should be taking more responsibility for communicating with their teachers (eg. when away from lessons, have questions about subject content etc.)
Parents can still have a relationship with the school that fits around their child’s changing social needs. One of the best ways to continue helping your child is to create a supportive environment for education at home – an environment that values education. This might involve simply talking about schoolwork together, discussing your child’s career plans and ambitions, or talking through the links between your child’s schoolwork and their future goals.
Permission Needed – Let’s Mark This Moment in History
Yr 9 participated in Australia Post’s Dear Australia initiative. For letters to be posted, parent permission needs to be granted via Engage, by the end of term. We thank you for your support of this activity.
School Photos
Yr 9 school photos have now been distributed. You are still able to order photos should you wish. Please have your child pop into the Yr 9 Year Advisor Office to collect their personal order form.
Secondary School Photography Day – Wednesday 24 June
Yr 12 group photos will be taken by Advancedlife Photography from 10.10am on Wednesday 24 June. This day will also be a photo opportunity for any Yr 7-12 student who missed the portrait photo day in Term 1 to receive a catch up photo. The schedule will be communicated to students in Tutor Time.
Orders for photography packages can be placed securely online at www.advancedlife.com.au using our school’s unique 9 digit Advanced order code, NWL 4NR ETY. Should you have any queries concerning school photographs or online ordering, please direct them via email to enquiries@advancedlife.com.au.
Yr 9 Incursion
Though the Sydney Jewish Museum is not currently able to welcome students to the Museum, on Tuesday students were able to engage with them virtually via webinar. The experience was engaging and thought-provoking. Thank you to the History and Christian Studies Departments for arranging this event. For a thorough report, please see the Christian Studies section of Note Day.
Redlands Gives Thanks
In Week 6, Yr 9 spent time writing letters of thanks to our local food services. These letters have now been posted. Thank you Yr 9 for your caring and sincere words of support to a key section of our essential services.
Social Emotional Learning
Last week in Pastoral Care, students explored self-awareness and self-management when faced with situations that crop up that are out of our control. More information can be found in last week’s Note Day entry. Included are images of Ms Martin’s Tutor Group, McDouall Green, who are considering how one can change their behaviour to influence situations positively.
