Year 9
Yr 9 Commerce Market Day
The Yr 9 Market Day was held last Thursday 24 May, under the Gym. Lunchtime was a buzz with students from all Year Groups keen to try the wares of our Yr 9 students. This was certainly a highlight for our Year Group and we were all impressed with their entrepreneurial endeavours and sales skills. The day proved a wonderful opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills from their current Commerce topic of Running a Business. All students contributed an equity investment into their business and charged nominal operating costs (these funds were donated to the Redlands Scholarship Fund). Due to students’ sound planning, they recouped their initial investment and raised profits which will be distributed charitable causes chosen by our students.
Pink Sock Day
On Saturday 23 June (end of Week 8), Redlands will be hosting Pink Sock Day at Macquarie University in support of the Breast Cancer Network. Most sporting teams will be playing their games at Macquarie University on this day. Students are encouraged to support this initiative by donning pick socks. It is sure to be a wonderful community event with cake stalls and a barbeque.
School Assessments
With the school assessment season upon us for Semester 1, it is perhaps timely to check in with your son or daughter to see how they are travelling in terms of their wellbeing. Although students may not readily discuss their concerns around these assessments, we ask that parents be cognisant of the perceived or actual pressures that students may feel around this assessments. At Redlands we encourage students to do their best whilst maintaining clear perspective around the importance of these assessment procedures. Should you feel that your child is needing extra support at this time please do not hesitate to be in contact.
Study Hall in Roseby Library
For students seeking a quiet space to work together with access to teaching staff, the school is now running Study Sessions in the Roseby Library. These sessions occur on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7.30- 8.15am. This is informal in the sense that students can ‘drop in’ if and when this is needed.
