Assessments
The 2020 Assessment Handbook and Assessment Calendar are both available on Redlands Pulse and our iLearn Pastoral Care Page. The Assessment Handbook provides students with an overview of all policies particular to the year group along with subject overviews. The Assessment Calendar provides students with a timeline of assessment throughout the year.
Lockers
There is a vast number of students who do not have a lock for their locker. To ensure the security of valuables, students are to ensure their locker is locked at all times and that they keep their locker combination secure and secret. We ask that all students have a lock for their locker by Monday Week 6.
Cross Country Training
Cross Country training will begin on Friday 13 March (Week 7) at 6.20am at Primrose Oval. The training session will run for an hour. Students will need to be dropped off to Primrose Oval for the start of the session and after the session, coaches will walk the students back up to the Senior Campus at 7.20am to allow time for the students to get changed to make it to lessons for Period 1. The training is open to any athlete who would like to train for the School Cross Country Carnival which is on Thursday 2 April.
If your child is selected for the Redlands ISA Cross Country team after the School Cross Country Carnival, there will be training sessions which will run every Friday morning until Friday 5 June.
If you have any questions in regards to the training sessions, please email the Cross Country Sports Administrator Kate Seebohm or the Head Coach of Middle Distance, Nick Walker.
Yr 9 Parent Events
Thank you to our Yr 9 Parent Reps (Erin, Tiff, Melinda and Suzy) for coordinating the organisation of a number of upcoming parent events for Yr 9 families. Events include coffee mornings and family picnics. Please see the email from Redlands class of 2023 (sent Monday 10 February) for dates, locations and times.
SchoolTV:Social Media and Digital Reputation
This week I’m highlighting Social Media and Digital Reputation.
“What kids do and post online, the sites they visit and the things they say is permanent. This digital footprint denotes their digital reputation and there’s nothing to stop someone from saving and storing that information about your child.” Dr Michael Carr-Gregg
Social media has become such an integral part of a teenager’s life that it can cause anxiety and lower their self-esteem. Modern teens are learning to do most of their communication whilst looking at a screen instead of another person. They are missing out on very critical social skills.
And dependant on what they are communicating online, it can affect their digital reputation. Friendships, relationships and even future job prospects are all at risk. As a parent, it is very important that you are aware of what picture they are painting of themselves online.
Once information makes its way online it can be difficult to remove. Images and words can be misinterpreted and altered as they are easily and quickly shared around. Privacy settings on social media sites need to be managed in order to protect your child’s digital reputation.
