Year 9
Yearly Examinations
Yr 9 examinations are taking place for the whole of next week. Parents will have received a letter and the examination timetable from the school. Please take the time to read the letter, as the procedures have changed for the Year Group compared to last year. Due to the increasing level of maturity developing in Yr 9, students are now given the opportunity to leave Redlands and return home at either recess or lunch, if they do not have a further examination later that day. The only exception to this is on Thursday, where it is required for them to remain at school and then attend their usual sporting commitments. Students are expected to use their time wisely to study for subsequent exams if they do leave school before the end of the day. They also have the option of signing into the school library to study, if they wish to do so. Please take the time to look at your child’s timetable and have a discussion with them as to what their plans are for the days that they finish either at recess or lunch.
UNSW ICAS Maths Competition
Congratulations to all students who took part in the UNSW Maths competition. In particular, of note are the following students who received a Distinction: Eden Borrie, Iris Buisman, Will Christie, Izzy Dong, Ashani Gupta, Charlotte Harman, Aarav Kumar, Jessy Sun, Dasha Sychova, and Jessica Wei.
Instrumental Competition
Congratulations to Zac Nisbet on winning the Division 2 (Yrs 9 and 10) Redlands Instrumental Competition, which showcased sophisticated levels of musical expression as the students explored a wide variety of styles and performance contexts.
Pastoral Care Program
Students have downloaded the third weekly study planner. The examination timetable has been released and they should have saved a copy to their desktop and understand the processes involved for the examination period next week.
Social Awareness Program
The students continue to work towards a fundraising event in Week 6 to support the organisation Room to Read, who focus on reducing inequality of girls’ education in developing nations around the world. Students will be raising awareness about the organisation with other Year Groups in the school, as well as helping with the planning and running of the event in Week 6.
I hope you have a great week!
