Year 9
Interesting Article of the Week
This week I have included an article from the School’s new online resource available for all parents and carers – SchoolTV. There is a quiz attached to this article that helps you to determine a greater understanding of your style of parenting. SchoolTV provides parents and teachers with a wealth of knowledge regarding many relevant topics so please have a look through it at your leisure.
YLead
Yr 9 students have been given an amazing opportunity to attend a leadership day called Altitude Day, run by the organisation YLead. This organisation provides ‘unique learning experiences that empower young people to be their best and make a positive difference’. Details of this event are on this link and information for the students on how to apply is on their Pastoral Care iLearn page.
Pastoral Care Program
This week students are learning about Habit 4: Think Win-Win from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, which is an attitude towards life, a mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. It is not me or you, it is both of us. Think Win-Win is the foundation for getting along well with other people and it begins with the belief that we are all equal and that no one is inferior or superior to anyone else.
Social Awareness Program
This Sunday 26 May is National Sorry Day. Students this week will be learning about the Stolen Generation and watching a very moving story about a woman who was forcibly removed from her family as a child.
STEAM USA Trip
Please take time to have a look at the exciting overseas USA trip available to Yr 9 students in October 2020. The information brochure is available here. The information evening is on Monday 3 June 2019 at 6.00pm and to register interest in attending, please complete the quick survey via the students Redlands Google account (access is only available using a student Redlands account).
I hope you have a great week.
