Year 9

Gala Arts

It was wonderful to see so many Year 9 students involved in Gala Arts on Friday night, both on stage and in the production team. Our talented music, drama and dance students showcased their immense skill and passion for being on stage and their level of enjoyment was evident from the audience. A huge congratulations to all students involved, and a special mention to Sahara Nicholas who won both the vocal element and overall competition!

Year 9 into 10 Subject Selection

Our Year 9 students have done an excellent job this week asking lots of questions of our Subject Coordinators (SCOs) about what to expect from their electives next year, as well as asking some good questions about how they fit into senior pathways.

As the due date for selection in tomorrow, it’s encouraged to have one last discussion if there any lingering questions prior to the deadline.

Just as a reminder of the options and some FAQs, please see the handbook here – Year 9 into 10 2025 Courses of Study Booklet

Student Focus

Congratulations to Amelie Swann who has represented Redlands in the NSW team at the Gold Coast School Nationals Swimming Championships this week, as part of inaugural School Sport Games.

Amelie competed in the 50m butterfly event and reached the final to come 7th nationally and achieved a PB time. She was also part of two NSW relay teams for 6 x 50  open relay and the 15–16 year girls 4x50m freestyle relay, also recording PBs in both events and a 4th in age relay.

Jeans for Genes

This year’s Jeans for Genes Day will be taking place Week 2 Friday 2 August! This event is all about supporting medical research and raising funds for children and families living with genetic disorders.

Did you know 1 in 20 children faces a birth defect or genetic disease? That’s around 1 per class!

On Friday Week 2, students can come to school in their favourite pair of jeans or denim clothing, as well as the colour blue. For the privilege of dressing down, a gold coin donation will be collected during Tutor. Students may also wish to purchase a blue ribbon before school for $2, or buy a bake sale items in the Liggins Quad at recess.

There is also a donations page where you can make a direct contribution to our fundraising efforts found at this link.
