Year 9

Welcome Back

It was wonderful to welcome back Year 9 on Tuesday morning. Many of them seemed well rested and had fully taken advantage of the three-week break. They were well presented in their winter uniforms and eager to reconnect with their peers and teachers and get on with their job of being a student. 

Year 9 into 10 Subject Selection

On Wednesday during Tutor Time, Year 9 received a presentation from Mrs Rolon on their subject choices for Year 10. She outlined the subjects available, some of the impacts that these choices can have on senior patterns of studies, as well as the considerations about the more self-directed approach needed for students planning to attend Winter School.  

Mrs Rolon stressed the importance of using the handbook which students will be provided with and the sessions that have been set up during Tutor Time next week to ask questions to Subject Coordinators about the subject they are interested in to make good, informed choices for next year. 

As parents you are encouraged to discuss this with your students using the subject slection handbook as a guide over the coming weekend.

Coaching Conversations

On Monday 29 July (Week 2) during Periods 1-2 and Tutor Time students will engage in their Semester 2 Coaching Conversations with their Tutor. This is an opportunity to reflect on their progress in Semester 1 and use their recent reports, student-led conferences feedback and Recognition of Academic Discussions (RAD) or Recognition of Academic Growth (RAG) to inform their approach to Term 3. 

I encourage you to have a follow up conversation with your student so that you are aware of their goals and intentions for the term and can help support them with this.
