During our Stage 5 Assembly on Tuesday morning the SRC representatives for 2024 were announced. Congratulations to Thomas Beatty, Patrick Sun, Alex Heller and Andy Guan for being nominated as the Year 9 representatives. We look forward to working with you this year.
Student-led Chapel
Last Friday 9M delivered our Chapel service, continuing to delve into the theme of ‘love’ and the many ways we can understand the nature of love.
Subject Focus – Commerce
Redlands welcomed back recent graduates, Alyssa and Elina, this week. Our Year 9 students enjoyed hearing firsthand about their experiences in the Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) program at UTS.
Alyssa and Elina engaged in insightful discussions about the BAcc program, highlighting its unique aspects compared to other university degrees. Our students were particularly interested in learning about unexpected costs associated with university life, managing study hours and balancing part-time work.
Recognizing the importance of financial literacy, we transitioned into assisting students with their ‘first year out of home’ budgets as part of their Commerce task. It was wonderful to have excel wizards on hand!
Alumni engagement plays a vital role in guiding and inspiring the next generation. It was lovely to see the connections between students and our alumni, many of whom were well remembered.
International Womens Day (IWD) Breakfast
Thank you to Charlotte Algar and Tara Ward for volunteering to help host the IWD Breakfast this week.

Balmoral Swim – Sunday 24 March
The Balmoral Swim Schools Relay Challenge is back! On Sunday morning, 24 March, local schools will come together to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute and have fun participating in an open water swim relay. Each team consists of four swimmers, and each swimmer will swim a 200 m leg of the relay. Participants can choose to swim in their year category or an older category, and the entry cost is a $20 donation per swimmer.
Not a swimmer? No problem! You can still support the cause by donating to the Redlands fundraising page to help raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Institute. This is a fantastic opportunity to come together, have some fun, and raise funds for a great cause.

NAPLAN Catch-ups
Across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week Year 9 students completed their NAPLAN diagnostic and progress tests.
For any student who has missed an exam, catch-up sessions have been arranged for Friday, Monday and Tuesday morning. The time and place will be communicated to individual students as needed.
Navigating assessments due on the same day as Sports Carnivals and Cocurricular Events
For all students in Years 7 to 10 who are absent due to a sports carnival or cocurricular event and have a take-home assessment that falls on the same day, they are still expected to submit the assessment on time. No deadline extensions will be granted.
If the assessment is a formal in class assessment or exam and a student will miss it due to the carnival or cocurricular event, they should inform their teacher at least a week in advance so that the teacher can arrange an alternative day and time for the student to sit the formal assessment or exam.
