Grand Finals

Congratulations to all our students who competed in the Grand Final matches. Well done to all the girls who won the Junior A Girls Football, ISA Junior A Netball and the 1sts Hockey and 2nds Hockey teams who also won their Grand Final games.

Emma Mahon competed for the U16 Athletics NSW team at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Maleny, Queensland over the weekend. The course was beautiful, challenging and hilly. Emma had a strong run, finishing midfield in 16:27 minutes (49th position out of 79 girls). She was pleased to be the 5th placed U16 ANSW Girls’ team, finishing the Cross Country season on a positive note, achieving her best placing of the season.

Jonah Koppers competed in the CAS Athletics invitational on Saturday and ran a six second PB in the 15 Years 800m to finish in 3rd place in the championship event. Well done to Rachel Kinghorn, Beau Davies, Amelie Archer, Riley Felton and Samuel Harrap who also competed at the Invitational Carnival.

Athletics

This Friday night, Emma Mahon, Lauren Wong, Olivia Donoghue and Liberty Jacob will be competing at the Nitro Schools Knockout in the Intermediate Girls’ team. Nitro Schools Challenge is a team based competition with a mixture of new and traditional events. It is school against school, with a new point scoring table and opportunities to be strategic. Larger teams and more events mean that it is about working together and having fun. Best wishes to our Intermediate Girls’ team.

Pastoral Focus

This week our Pastoral focus in on turning ‘setbacks into triumphs’ and ‘unmasking your potential’. Students watched a TEDX Video which featured ultra-marathon runner, Turia Pitt, who received horrific burns in a bush fire during an ultra-marathon in the Kimberleys. Students have reflected upon Turia’s ‘can do’ attitude, from surmounting the hurdles of rehabilitation to her positive life focus that she maintains today.
