Year 8

This Week

  • The Sport teams are back in action and preparing for a strong start to competition in Term 3. It was a pleasure being able to join the Boys Rugby team and the Girls Netball team practices these last two weeks. While we discuss character strengths in Pastoral Care, what is seen in these practices is a fantastic demonstration of many of these strengths: determination, persistence, kindness, zest, teamwork, encouragement, leadership, accountability and bravery. We will continue to celebrate these strengths in students on the fields and courts while challenging and encouraging them to see these strengths transfer to the playground and the classroom.
  • A special congratulations to Jessica Van Extel for being awarded the Representative Player in Field Hockey from the Independent Sporting Association. Well done, Jessica!

Reminders

  • It is a health hazard for additional visitors to visit campus during the day.  In an effort to limit the amount of people coming onto the school campus during the day, we are asking parents to not drop items off in the Secondary School Office or any office on school grounds. Yr 8 students should be responsible for their own items and we can usually assist with any daily issues if students communicate with their Tutor or Year Advisors.
  • Wednesday 5 August for Yr 8 Parent Student Teacher Evening. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet all of your child’s teachers and to hear how your child is going in each subject.

Blazer Pick-Up

Students and parents will receive communication via email about arrangements for those students who would like to have their blazers embroidered at the end of Term 2. This will include any Summer Sport awards that were given out at the end of Term 1 but were unable to be embroidered at that time due to restrictions.

Yr 8 students will be able to drop off their blazers at the following times on Friday 26 June:

Tutor – from 10.10-10.35am
Recess – from 10.35-11.05am
Lunch – from 12.50-1.35pm
After School – from 3.20-3.45pm

Secondary School Photography Day – Wednesday 24 June

Yr 12 group photos will be taken by Advancedlife Photography from 10.10am on Wednesday 24 June. This day will also be a photo opportunity for any Yr 7-12 student who missed the portrait photo day in Term 1 to receive a catch up photo. The schedule will be communicated to students in Tutor Time.

Orders for photography packages can be placed securely online at www.advancedlife.com.au using our school’s unique 9 digit Advanced order code, NWL 4NR ETY. Should you have any queries concerning school photographs or online ordering, please direct them via email to enquiries@advancedlife.com.au.
