Upcoming Events

- Wednesday 5 August – Yr 8 Parent Teacher Evening. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and to hear how your child is going in each subject.
This Week
- What a return this week has been. The energy, the enthusiasm and similar feelings to the first day of school have made the return to On-Campus Learning and opening of the New Learning Hub an incredible start to the remainder of Term 2.
- Congratulations to our fantastic Yr 8 debaters who participated in three rounds of Debating for the last three Fridays via Zoom. Last Friday, the Yr 8 ISDA team took on Kambala debating “the 2021 Olympics should not be the last Olympics to run”. It was a delight to be able to see these students in action with focused arguments, concrete examples and strong counter arguments. Congratulations to Jack Petering, Anneka Steele and Jocelyn Wang for their win last Friday and to all of the debaters for their energy, time and sharing of their skills.
Australia Post and the National Archives
Yr 8 students took part in writing Thank You letters to Australia Post and other delivery services last week during Tutor Time. The letters were heartfelt and will be delivered this week. In conjunction with writing these letters, Yr 8 will also be invited to participate in Dear Australia organised by Australia Post and the National Archives of Australia. All students will participate during Tutor Time and parent permission will be requested next week for the items to be submitted to the National Archives of Australia. Please keep an eye out for these permissions next week in Engage.
Let’s Mark This Moment in History
We know that the last few months have had an extraordinary impact on families, communities and our way of life. There have been highs and lows, moments of joy and learnings for all of us.
At Australia Post, we think it’s important that we mark this moment in our nation’s history. So we’ve created a national letterbox where, from now until 18 August, you can write a letter to share your experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re working with the National Archives of Australia, where eligible Dear Australia letters will be kept for future generations. This will enable all Australians to record their impressions of this remarkable time.
Letters could contain a message of hope, a story of community spirit, a description of how this event has changed your life; it could even incorporate a piece of your child’s artwork. For more information click here.
