Welcome to Term 4! We have a busy term ahead of us. This week, students met one-on-one with their Tutor to reflect on progress through Term 3 and set goals for Term 4. This term will be filled with examinations, Service opportunities and tasks which encourage students to develop helpful thinking patterns.
This term we welcome Alannah Gill into the Yr 8 cohort. We welcome back Sienna Wessels and Grace Matthews from Winter School. Temporarily, we farewell Julia Murphy who is heading to Japan for the next 12 months.
Examinations
In preparation for examinations in Week 4, students will be using Pastoral Care time as an opportunity for personal study. It is important that they schedule this time into their study routines and plan accordingly. Students have been encouraged to speak openly with their teachers about examination content and preparation. Should you have any questions, please contact the relevant teacher or Subject Coordinator directly.
The message we’re sending Yr 8 is that whilst exams are important, they are not the only source of subject assessment. Nerves are expected (and also useful) yet, no student should be losing sleep. Students should use the upcoming exams as an opportunity to track progress and gain an understanding of how examination sessions work in the Secondary School.
The Raising Children Network and the Study Skills Handbook have a wealth of useful information about exam preparation and managing any worries.
The Redlands Home Learning guidelines can be found on page 16 of the Student Planner.
SRC Leadership and Environmental Sustainability Expo
Representatives from the SRC and the Redlands Environmental Club attended an Expo at the Sydney Observatory to hear expert speakers address students from all over Sydney. Students took part in a workshop, as well as presenting to primary school students to help inspire and educate them in sustainability and to become more environmentally aware in their daily lives. The following Yr 8 students attended on behalf of Redlands:
- Sabrina Blasco – SRC
- Lucy Horton – Environmental Club representative
- Alyssa Tinetti – SRC
- Erin Tyrrell – Environmental Club representative
- Harry Wilkes – Environmental Club representative
