Year 8

News
  • Thank you to all Tutors and Mr Warrell for their support throughout Term 1.
  • It is important that students clear and clean their lockers before the end of term.
  • Winter uniform is to be worn from the start of Term 2. Details are contained in the Student Planner.
  • All students have received their School Photo packs. If you are wanting to order more photos, students can collect their personal order information from the Year Advisors Office in A Block (Secondary School Office).
  • Thank you to all students and staff who were brave enough to take a ‘safe’ risk and engage in a lip sync battle ending term on a light-hearted note. Pictured are students in rehearsal this week.

Camp

Thank you sincerely for your assistance with granting permission and returning any additional forms so promptly. Permissions and additional forms are due by this Friday 12 April. Any additional OEG forms should be scanned and emailed to David Gregory (dgregory@redlands.nsw.edu.au). This week, students received an initial briefing on the Camp program (students will receive a thorough briefing in Week 1, Term 2).

Learning Management Alerts

Learning Management Alerts is a Yr 7-8 program designed to assist tracking student academic task management. To date, the program has been successful in assisting students, parents and teachers in monitoring and supporting student learning. Have No Fear…LMAs Are Here!

LMAs are issued by teachers whenever they feel a student may be at risk of falling behind. Individualised reports will be exported and emailed to students, parents and Tutors every Friday. It will briefly outline an action the student can take in order to catch up over the weekend. Our intention is to stimulate informed and supportive discussions during Tutor Time and at home to assist students to catch up and continue to productively manage their workload. We are aiming to start every Monday with a clean slate. If you do not receive an academic flag email each Friday, it simply indicates that one has not been issued for your child in that particular week.

Disclaimers:

  • LMAs are not a punishment. They are a form of support for everybody associated with the academic progress of students.
  • LMAs aim to assist student motivation.
  • LMAs are by no means a supplement for student planning systems, nor a comprehensive overview of upcoming assessment tasks. They simply highlight areas that require immediate attention in order to meet the requirements of a particular course at any point.
  • It is vital that students take responsibility for their studies by contacting their teachers themselves if they feel the information in the database is inaccurate.
  • If a student is feeling overwhelmed, they are encouraged to contact their Tutor or Year Advisors.
