Goodbye Ms Walker!

Thank you all for your wishes and generosity in farewelling Ms Walker. Gifts were shared with her on Wednesday during our Year Meeting. Her final day is Friday this week. We wish her and her husband the warmest of wishes as they embark on this new and exciting journey with their baby girl.

Pastoral Care

During Tutor Time this week, students were introduced to the topic of risk taking through a conversation format. Objectives of the session included:

• To explore personal and shared experiences with risk-taking
• To begin to understand the role of risk taking in the context of adolescent development and emotional regulation.

Readings

Last week, on my way home, I was listening to a fantastic conversation on the Drive program on ABC Radio Sydney with Professor Adrian Piccoli, who was discussing his recent book 12 Ways Your Child Can Get The Best Out Of School. Aimed at parents, the book sets out clear tips and hints you can engage with to help children receive the quality education they deserve. I’ve added it to my reading list and thought some of you may also be interested. Adrian Piccoli served as a Member of NSW Parliament for 19 years, and was the NSW Minister for Education for six years until 2017. He is currently the Director of UNSW’s Gonski Institute for Education.
