2023 Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Student Achievement – Community Languages Schools

Congratulations to Jolon Yiu Shing Chan who was selected to receive a Minister’s Award. ​​ This is a remarkable achievement and a prestigious award and reflects Jolon’s commitment to the study of Chinese. The Award ceremony took place on Monday evening at the University of NSW and was presented by The Hon Prue Car MP, Deputy Premier and the Minister for Education and Early Learning,

Yr 12 IB Composition and Performance for Dance

This week a number of students assisted our Year 12 IB students with their final piece of assessment work in Dance. It is a wonderful experience for our younger students to see the effort and work that goes into submissions like these and also provides an insight into senior studies.

Thank you to Amelie Dewar, Emma Cruttenden and Isabelle Monty for their efforts as dancers for the Year 12 works. 

Changes to Undercroft Rules

In order to dissipate some of the current energy in the space underneath the Lang Gym where the Year 7 and 8 lockers are, on Monday during our Year 8 Assembly we have informed students that the rules concerning the space have been changed. 

The main changes are:

  • Handball in now to be played on the Redlands laneway where there is plenty of open space in the sunshine
  • Students should on use the space for sitting down and eating, so no running or active games
  • Students should take things out of their lockers and avoid loitering around these areas

Very quickly we have seen a positive change in the way this space is used – thank you and well done Year 8!


Our Daily Business

While Note Day is often used to highlight big events achievement, it is often important to remember what the daily ‘job’ (as Ms Van De Peer articulates it) of a person in Year 8 is – being a student.

This involves being in the classroom daily participating in learning activities which differ greatly depending on the subject.
