Year 8

Yr 8 Geography Excursion

Today the HSIE department organised an excursion to Manly Dam and Bantry Bay as part of their current ‘Water and the World’ unit.

The focus of the excursion was to equip students with knowledge of local water management practices and some geography field work skills which included; testing water quality, collecting samples and field sketches.

We were blessed with perfect weather conditions and had a wonderful time exploring the reservoir.

House Debating

During Tutor on Wednesday, Year 8 representatives of the McDoull and Cowper house debated the topic ‘That tourism to Antarctica should be banned.’

In very similar fashion to the previous weeks Year 8 debate, the topic was hard fought and a tight decision.

This week the representatives of McDoull were victorious, now pitting them against Dumolo in the upcoming finals.

Yr 8 Analytical Writing Bootcamp

During our joint 7 – 9 Student -Led Assembly this week, Mrs. Rolon (Dean of Studies 7 -10) presented a number of students with certificates for their participation in the Analytical Writing Boot Camp. These students have spent their Monday afternoons over the past term developing their skills in annotating.texts and producing highly structured pieces of writing from these annotations.

Well done to Daniel Bond, Loukas Veryinis, William Arnold, Andy Guan, Liam Donnelly, Georgia Cavric, Jessica Jackson, Saskia Kaye and Roman Jackson for their participation in this extra-curricular and for recognising the opportunity workshops like this provide.
