Subject Focus – Technology

Year 8 Drama Performances

This week the Year 8 Drama Performances took place. Throughout the course of the  term, students have explored the work of Australian writers and performers who have contributed to Australian drama and theatre. This was the first time many of the cohort had taken part in a full scale performance exam and the performances were absolutely fantastic! I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Tuesday night performances and was thoroughly impressed by the support that students provided to one another (a number of students acted as stand-ins)  and the clear time and effort that had gone into rehearsing.

Police Liaison Officer Talk

As part of the Pastoral program this year we have had a focus on equipping students with the skills to be able to protect themselves when engaging in online activities. This week we were very fortunate  to have Senior Constable Lynda Hart come and deliver a presentation on choices with regards to content sharing online. The content covered included many topics, with resources available on the THINKUKNOW website. A tool that really stood out to help students make better decisions before hitting ‘send’ or ‘like’ was the AWARE acronym (below) designed to reduce impulsive decision making in an online space.
