Year 8

General

I hope that all students and their families had a fantastic Easter break. I also wish a fantastic show (and not ‘good luck’!) to all of our students participating in the Musical tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday night. We have many Yr 8 students both on stage and behind the scenes, so we wish them well!

International Day

On Tuesday of next week, Redlands is celebrating International Day. Yr 8 will be undertaking cultural activities based around the languages studied at Redlands, as well as an incursion with guest presenters to learn about Australian Aboriginal culture.

Tuesday will be a mufti day. Students are encouraged to wear country–themed international dress and there will be prizes awarded for the best outfit in each Year Group during the International Day assembly. If they don’t wish to dress in international dress, they are encouraged to wear the colours of their assigned country (see below). Please refer students to their Planner for guidelines on appropriate mufti day attire. It is an expectation that students will make a gold coin donation towards UNICEF Change for Good on the day.

As part of International Day, students will also be completing an activity on the UN Declaration of Human Rights in Tutor Time.

Yr 8 Parents’ Drinks Night

The first Yr 8 Parents’ Drinks Night will be on Thursday 12 April from 7pm at The Duck in Mosman.  Tickets will be $35 per person for canapés and a welcome drink. Link to follow. 

Yr 8 Technology Assessment

Due to some missed Technology classes this term, the due date for Assessment 1 (‘Urban Planning’) has been extended until Friday 11 May (Week 2, Term 2). This will also be communicated to students in class by their Technology teacher.

Lost Property

Please note that all unclaimed lost property will be thrown out at the end of term. Lost property can be found outside the Health Centre.
