Year 8

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to Term 3 – 10 weeks of busy and exciting activities lie ahead  It has been wonderful to watch our cohort reconnect with one another this week after the three week break, relaxed and ready to delve into their classes. Yr 8 certainly hit the ground running, with half of Wednesday dedicated to ASS testing, which they approached with their usual diligence and positivity.

Last term concluded with an End of Term 2 Assembly for Yts 7-9, with two impressive and polished masters of ceremonies, Yr 8 students Zara Anderson and Samuel Harris. Both students presented to their peers in a polished and engaging manner, and are to be congratulated.

In Tutor Time on Friday, Tutors will have one to one Connection Conversations to prepare students for Semester 2. These conversations will be student led and will provide students with the opportunity to articulate their goals for the semester. The aim of this session is for students to understand the value of process (habit) based goals, to draw connections between their goals, processes and their Effort Tracking, and to critically reflect on their strengths as well as areas for further growth and self management.

Snowsports Interschools and Redlands Cup

Several Yr 8 students participated in the Snowsports Interschools and Redlands Cup during the July Holidays at Thredbo. A warm congratulations to those who competed and were successful on the snow fields.

Winter Uniform

Students are required to return to school this term in their Winter School Uniform. On normal school days, and for all official or formal occasions, when travelling to and from school, when on excursion or when involved in any activity associated with the School, students will wear full school uniform as set out below.

Sport Uniform

The Redlands Sport Uniform is to be worn:

  • For all PDHPE (Practical) classes
  • For all Redlands Sports Carnivals
  • For Thursday Sport Day

The Sport Uniform is not to be worn at any other time. On days other than Thursday, if students have PDHPE during the day or training before/after school, they need to utilise the change rooms. Details about getting changed for PE lessons and Sport training can be found on page 21 of the Student Planner. When engaging in PDHPE lessons, Sports Carnivals and Sport training, the correct Sport Uniform needs to be worn. Hooded sport tops (basketball, netball, football, etc) are not permitted at school and should not be worn as part of the Redlands Sport Uniform. A fleece may be worn as part of this Sport Uniform.
