Redlands Cross Country

Congratulations to all Year 8 students who took part in the Cross Country Carnival at Balmoral Oval. Please congratulate the following runners on their outstanding results:

Catch Up Vaccinations

On Thursday 26th May students in Year 8 who were absent on 6th April (the first round of vaccinations) will be able to receive a catch up vaccination for the HPV vaccine.

This has been communicated with students via email, and a reminder will be sent out early next week.

Resilience

Resilience is important for a young person’s mental health. It is their ability to bounce back from failure, challenges, adversity and stress. It’s not something that kids have or don’t have but a skill that kids develop over time as they grow. Building resilience not only helps a young person deal with current difficulties, but it also helps develop a resilient mindset that will help them deal with challenges later in life. All young people are capable of working through challenges and coping with stress, but they require guidance and support from a charismatic adult role model.

A Farewell and New Beginnings

Last week we farewelled Mr Atkins and thanked him for being an exceptional Year Advisor – several students spoke about the care and support he has offered our Year Group, and that he will be missed. We wish him well in his new role and cannot wait to see him on next year’s camp!

I am very excited to be stepping into the role of Year 8 Advisor, alongside Mr Horan, who has been appointed the Assistant Year 8 Advisor. We both look forward to continuing to encourage and assist Year 8 as they navigate their journey at Redlands.
