Year 8

Camp Details

Departure:  Dunnet Hall on Allister St (Junior School) 6am arrival on Monday 28 March.

Rapid Antigen Testing, COVID-19 symptoms and arrival at school

All students must take a Rapid Antigen Test on Sunday evening or Monday morning prior to arrival at school. We will require verbal confirmation of a negative test from the students upon arrival at school on the Monday. Confirmation of a negative test is a requirement of attendance at Camp.

If the test is positive, follow normal school and NSW Health procedures and isolate accordingly. If however, your child has contracted COVID-19 in the last 8 weeks they are still welcome on camp, as long as they are out of their 7-day isolation period and symptom free.

If your child is unable to attend Camp for any reason, please email eatkins@redlands.nsw.edu.au and ssabsence@redlands.nsw.edu.au at your earliest available moment.

Face Masks

We ask students to bring 5 disposable face masks to camp. Face masks are required for the bus journey to, from and during the Camp. There will be several bus rides throughout the week so please pack spare masks in case they go missing or get damaged.

Lunch Day 1

Students will need to bring their own nut-free morning tea and lunch for Monday. For the rest of the week there is no need for extra snacks as an appropriate amount of these will be provided.

Phones and Devices

There are to be no phones or electronic devices on Camp so please keep them at home. Updates on arrival time back to Redlands on Friday will be communicated to parents via SMS (roughly 2.30pm).

Yr 8 Vaccinations 2022, Wednesday 6 April

The Northern Sydney Public Health Unit will be holding a NSW Schools Vaccination clinic on Wednesday 6 April to administer dose 2 of the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (HPV) to Year 8 students who began the NSW Schools Vaccination programme in 2021. This will also be an opportunity to catch up any missed Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis vaccines (dTpa) for students who were unable to attend the clinic 2021. Students new to Year 8 who have not received the HPV dose 1 vaccinations or the dTpa should contact their GP.

Parent Information Kits that included an information sheet, consent form and privacy statement were returned to School in 2021. You do not need to complete anything further.

Redlands and The Northern Sydney Public Health Unit have added additional infection control measures within the program to help minimise viral transmission between students, nurses, and school staff.

In preparation of the clinic:

  • Students who are not feeling well must be kept at home. Students who are sick, especially with any acute respiratory symptoms, will not be vaccinated. The nurse will perform a pre-vaccination assessment and determine the student’s suitability to be vaccinated. Catch-up vaccinations for these students can occur at the next clinic.
  • Students must bring a mask to wear at the clinic
  • Students will be asked to use hand sanitiser upon entry to the clinic and before returning to their classroom.
  • Students will arrive in smaller groups to prevent close-proximity queuing, and physical spacing will be applied.
  • Please ensure your child has had a good breakfast on the morning of the vaccination.

A Record of Vaccination card will be provided to each student vaccinated at each clinic. Details about vaccinations given at school will also be uploaded to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) to support complete vaccination histories. Please note that if a student is absent from this clinic, they will be offered any missed doses at a subsequent clinic. They do not need to go to their GP for these vaccines. Visit www.health.nsw.gov.au/immunisation for further information and translated copies of the Vaccination Information Kits.
