Year 7
Smiles, laughter and excitement was wonderful to note as Yr 7 came bounding through the gates again this week. There was a wonderful sense of respect and appreciation of each other and Redlands teachers, with students bursting to get back into the classroom.
As we know, Remote Learning has demonstrated change and challenge, and I would like to thank one of our parents who sent this image through.
Yr 7 Vaccinations Update
Dose 1 – 11 June.
Dose 2 will be postponed to Term 1 2021, date TBA.
Reminder
All students are reminded to bring back to school any medication eg. EpiPens. All medications are kept in the Senior Campus Health Centre.
Science
Yr 7 have been learning about States of Matter and this week they looked at expansion and contraction. In this experiment students “crushed a can” by utilising the processes of evaporation and condensation. Students heated water (liquid) in a soft drink container until it turned into water vapour (gas). They then inverted the can into a container of cool water. This caused the water vapour to condense back into water and reduced the pressure inside the can – which caused it to crush.
Debating
Redlands vs PLC
Last weeks virtual Debating topic was that “Children should not be allowed to participate in reality TV shows”. Congratulations to all Yr 7 teams who competed. We are incredibly proud of not only their commitment to the Debating program, but the exceptional skill level demonstrated across all teams. Well done!
