Year 7

This Week

Yr 7 have been revisiting their assessment schedule and organisation skills this week as portfolios of work are being submitted and assessments are due.  Students have been encouraged to check their assessment notifications carefully and utilise their Student Planners for backwards planning to ensure assessments are not being left to the last minute. Tutor periods this week were used to support students in this endeavour and several smiling faces were evident after clicking “submit” for a few assessments in iLearn. If any students are finding the workload challenging, please encourage your children to speak with their Tutor for additional support and guidance.

This week Yr 7 Technology students explored different modelling technologies including CAD/CAM laser cutting and 3D printing. They extended their practical knowledge through soldering electronic circuits and coding three LED lights with a personalised image as part of manufacturing a working mood light, pictured below.

Term 2 Pastoral Care: Hitting Our Stride

This term students will focus on refining their habits, study skills and other tools for success by revisiting many ideas introduced to them in Term 1 and adding a few new ones to their repertoire. The Yr 7 Pastoral Program has been designed to include strategies and ideas from: Burn Bright Program, Pru Salter’s Study Skills, 7 Habits of  Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey and feedback from our wonderful Yr 7 cohort. A snapshot of our program each week includes:

Monday: Chapel
Tuesday: Tools for Success and Assessment Support
Wednesday: Assessment Support
Thursday: Year Meetings
Friday: Community Days and Peer Support
