Pastoral Care – Student Led Assemblies
Last Friday, Yr 7 held our first student led Year Meeting. Students reflected on examinations and considered personal strategies to assist during times of pressure in order to promote balance. The assembly finished with a light-hearted competition with Tutors in the form of a Dad Joke-Off, led by Paddy Walker, who was very comfortable behind the roaming mic! Thank you to Charlotte Scamps, Lily Hobbs, Nick Jackson, Julia Murphy, Matt Fry and Paddy Walker for their organisation.
We look forward to our final assembly, Love Yourself, this Friday. The assembly will explore how we can find value from the inside out rather than from external sources, value beyond looks and appearances. Thanks to Sabrina Blasco, Lucy Horton, Hannah Mitchell, Sammy Hely, Daniel Close, Layla Carpenter and Tobias Bowgerald for their input and leadership.
Yr 8 Pastoral Team 2019
Ms Abby Walker, our fantastic Assistant Year Advisor, is expecting her first baby. Ms Walker will be heading on maternity leave in early 2019, returning later in the year. We are excited to announce that Mr Michael Warrell (Yr 7 DB Tutor) will be stepping into the role of Acting Assistant Year Advisor whilst, Ms Walker is spending time getting to know her new bubba.
Additionally, we congratulate Ms Alissa Ynson (Yr 7 RR Tutor) and Ms Rachel Wilson (Yr 7 RW Tutor) for their new appointments within the Redlands Senior Pastoral team. Ms Ynson has been appointed the position of Acting Yr 7 Advisor, and Ms Wilson the position of Assistant Yr 11 Advisor for 2019.
All appointments are a wonderful reflection on the strength of the 2018 Yr 7 Pastoral team and it is wonderful to see Ms Ynson, Ms Wilson and Mr Warrell be able to share their skills and experience within the wider Redlands community. Each will work closely with the new Yr 8 Tutors to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for students. We look forward to welcoming new members to our Yr 8 Pastoral team in 2019.

Thank You
The parents, staff and students of Redlands would like to say thank you to Jodie Adams, Tanya Justice, Kirsty Edmonds-Wilson and Danielle Verschoor for their contribution to the Redlands community in representing the parents of Yr 7 in 2018. If anyone would like to assist or be a member of the Secondary School Parent Contact group in 2019, please email carys.stuart@bigpond.com for further information.
A Final Note
Thank you for a fantastic year. The Yr 7 Pastoral team wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday!
Holidays are wonderful times for students to relax and enjoy their families and friends – after all, they are sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren etc well before they are students. For all students, holidays are also an excellent opportunity to read, exercise more and pursue their hobbies away from electronic devices. Students are encouraged get active outside and enjoy Sydney in summer, and a well-deserved break! We look forward to welcoming you back in the new year and hearing about your holiday adventures.
