Year 7
News
- Alyssa Tinetti has been awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dancing Intensive workshop. What wonderful news!
- Congratulations to all Yr 7 students involved in the 2018 Ballet and Dance Concert this week. I found myself dancing in my seat on Wednesday watching many students perform in a number of different styles. The Ballet was beautiful, the Contemporary and Jazz fierce!
- Well done to all Yr 7 students who performed at Monday’s Drama Celebration Night and to all award recipients.
Burn Bright
Yr 7 had a FANTASTIC day on Wednesday working with Burn Bright. There were dance offs, epic gangster handshakes, rich discussions of opposing opinions, conversations with friends, conversations with others, skipping competitions, the list goes on. The aim of the day was to:
- Support in building positive relationships with their peers to enhance a greater sense of belonging.
- Build confidence to take positive steps to continue developing and nurturing new and existing friendships into the future.
- Understand their own strengths and the strengths of others.
- Appreciate diversity and celebrate difference.
- Discover key ingredients for achieving their best and making positive choices.
- Enhance students’ capacity to be resilient and deal with difficult situations.
- Be inspired to make a difference at school.
Pastoral Care – Student Led Assemblies
Yr 7 are hijacking Year Meetings! A core group of students have eagerly met each week to plan and shape two assemblies they feel passionate about.
- Help! I’m Freaking Out (Week 6) – Students reflect on examinations and consider personal strategies to assist during times of pressure in order to promote balance (and a little humour).
- Love Yourself (Week 7) – This assembly will explore how we can find value from the inside out rather than from external sources. Value beyond looks and appearances.
Both topics connect nicely with content covered in our Burn Bright workshop on Wednesday in Week 6.
Speech Night – Luna Park Wednesday 5 December
All students are required to attend Speech Night. Information regarding this event and Luna Park (directions and parking) will be emailed via the Secondary School Office. Prize winners will be notified closer to the time. Rolls will be marked by Tutors at the event. Full School uniform is expected, including blazers.
Thank You
The parents, staff and students of Redlands would like to say thank you to Jodie Adams, Tanya Justice, Kirsty Edmonds-Wilson and Danielle Verschoor for their contribution to the Redlands community in representing the parents of Yr 7 in 2018. If anyone would like to assist or be a member of the Secondary School Parent Contact Group in 2019, please email carys.stuart@bigpond.com for further information.
Booklists
I’ve had a few questions regarding Yr 8 Booklists for 2019. The Booklist is currently with Subject Coordinators and will be made available shortly. Keep your eyes peeled on Redlands Pulse.
