Year 7

Project Rockit

Today we had a fantastic session led by the incredible team at Project Rockit about the importance of managing our online presence. This engaging and informative presentation highlighted the importance of students having power over their choices and how to navigate challenging online situations. Students were empowered to use their help seeking behaviours and seek support from their trusted adults. This session was fun, engaging and allowed students to explore both the positive and negative aspects of social media. If you would like further information about how to support young people online, the following websites have some fantastic information, eSafety Commisioner, kidsonline and Project Rockit.

National History Challenge

The National History Challenge was open to all students in Year 7-9, and the following students in Year 7 are to be congratulated for attending weekly lunchtime sessions with Mr Allen throughout Semester 1 to complete an independent research project on a topic of historical inquiry of their own choice.

Isaac Bishop received a Young Historian Green award for participating in the process of historical research on the bombing of Darwin in the 2nd World War.

A Bronze Award for a group project goes to Miriam Killin, Ines Tan and Scarlett Tan who submitted a video presentation on panda diplomacy, which tracked the rationale behind the trade in pandas to countries outside China to preserve the species and grow China’s international relations with other nations.

Finally, a Bronze award also goes to Ivy Abineno for her research on the heavy investment and development of war planes in response to the crisis of trench warfare in WW1.

Well done to all of these students.
