Year 7
Our Second Week in Year 7…
This week we held our 2024 Secondary School Swimming Carnival. This is an eagerly anticipated annual event that splashes excitement across our entire Redlands community. Held at SOPAC, it transforms the typical school day into a vibrant spectacle of competitions and spirited house cheering (and dancing). The carnival not only celebrates athletic prowess but also fosters a sense of community, encouraging students to cheer for their classmates and embrace the joy of friendly competition.
A huge shout out goes to our Yr 7 students who participated in this event. It was wonderful to see your house spirit shine through.
A big congratulations to the following students.

Getting the Little Things Right!
In our school routine, let’s not underestimate the power of getting the little things right. It’s not just about tackling the big assignments, it’s also about being on time, keeping things tidy and meeting those smaller everyday deadlines. These might seem like minor details, but they make a big difference! Embracing these habits creates a more organised and efficient learning environment.
Tomorrow will be our first Planner Signing for Yr 7 Students. This will give all students the opportunity to share their learning with their parents and carers. Please can you ensure you sign your child’s planner for Week 1 ready for our Tutors to check.
Chapel Service
All Yr 7 students were fortunate to receive a Bible during this week’s Chapel Service. Thank you to our wonderful Chaplain, Ms Phillips, who made everyone feel welcome and part of the Redlands community. It is important for our Yr 7 students to remember that attending a chapel service in school holds profound significance as it fosters a sense of community and spiritual growth. These fortnightly gatherings provide a dedicated time for reflection, moral guidance and the nurturing of values that extend beyond academic pursuits.
Yr 7 Family Get-Together
Our wonderful Yr 7 Parent Reps have organised a family get-together on Sunday 11 February at Clontarf Reserve (3pm-5pm) to encourage new and existing Redlands families to build connections and help ease any concerns you might have about our upcoming camp.

Step Beyond…
With our upcoming Yr 7 Camp, students may be feeling a wide variety of emotions. We are taking advice from our Yr 12 Peers and are encouraging all Yr 7 students to Step Beyond. Camp is a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves and have fun outside of the classroom.
Over the next week, we will be talking to all of our Yr 7 students about the benefits of an outdoor education. School Camps offer an educational experience beyond the classroom, fostering outdoor learning, teamwork and personal development. By immersing in natural settings, our students develop an appreciation for the natural environment. Through hands-on experiences and social interactions, Yr 7 students develop essential skills like communication, leadership and empathy.
Camps also provide a break from technology, allowing students to fully engage with their surroundings and form lasting memories with others.
Further information about camp will be shared next week.
