News and Achievements

  • Last Thursday afternoon, Redlands had a full school assembly celebrating cocurricular achievements. Our guest speaker was Winter Olympic Silver Medallist and Redlander, Jarryd Hughes.
  • Yr 7 photos have arrived at Redlands. Photo packs are being delivered to students throughout Week 10.
  • Congratulations to  Freya Gait, Sophia Lark, Jessica Marshall, Marley Mendoza,  Issy Treloar, Eloise Trueman (Yr 7) and Iona Gait (Yr 5). The girls, all from Redlands, entered a team in the Under 15 Sydney Indoor Hockey competition, playing for Mosman Hockey Club. They’ve had a great season and won their Semi Final against North Sydney Girls High in Week 9. Unfortunately, they lost to Ascham in a well-fought Final last night.

Approaches to Learning

Approaches to Learning gives an indication of student Diligence, Engagement and Behaviour based on teacher observations and student reflections. Using a set criteria, Approaches to Learning is completed at the end of each term. For parents, data is included in the Semester 1 and 2 Report. Students also meet with their Tutor at the start of each new term to discuss results using data to help shape goals. On Tuesday this week, Yr 7 met to discuss the process and started entering their reflections. Students must complete their Approaches to Learning by Friday 6 April. To complete their Approaches to Learning:

  • Students will use iLearn and open each Course Information course and undertake the Approaches to Learning quiz (eg English, Maths, History etc)
  • The survey can be found in the navigation area under Quizzes
  • Students will be allowed multiple attempts at the quiz.

International Day

On Tuesday 10 April (Week 11), Redlands is celebrating International Day. Yr 7 will be undertaking cultural activities based around the languages studied at Redlands, as well as an incursion with guest presenters to learn about Australian Aboriginal culture.

Tuesday will be a mufti day. Students are encouraged to wear country–themed international dress and there will be prizes awarded for the best outfit in each Year Group during the International Day assembly. If they don’t wish to dress in international dress, students are encouraged to wear the colours of their assigned country (see below). Please refer students to their Planner for guidelines on appropriate mufti day attire. It is an expectation that students will make a gold coin donation towards UNICEF Change for Good on the day.

As part of International Day, students will also be completing an activity on the UN Declaration of Human Rights in Tutor Time.
