Year 7

Welcome back

Welcome to Term 4. I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and restful holiday break and trust that the holidays were filled with quality family time, fun with friends and some much-needed later alarm clocks, or none at all!

It has been wonderful to welcome students back this week. Our cohort appeared refreshed with renewed focus and ready for learning as we prepare for Yearly Examinations.

Athletics

On Tuesday 20 September a number of Yr 7 students competed in the CIS Athletics Competition at Sydney Olympic Park. The following students achieved great results and we congratulate them for their efforts:

  • Nicholas Meagher – 3rd place in the 12 years Long Jump
  • Finn Gurney – 4th place in the 12 years 400m
  • Hugo Burton – 9th in the 13 years Shotput
  • Eva Simpson – 11th place in the 12 years Shotput

During the first weekend of the school holiday Alexander (Xan) Krazsewski Francia competed at the NSW All Schools Championships. He finished 13th in the 1500m and this was a wonderful result.

Science Club

At Redlands, we offer many opportunities for students to follow their interests and passions. Science Club offers students dynamic and interesting practical science opportunities. The photo below depicts Zoe Mckeown and Hugo Christy participating in the ‘nappy challenge’ as part of Science Club with Ms Carroll. The challenge involved an experiment to see how much superabsorbent polymer can be removed from a nappy and how much water can be absorbed.
