Year 7

We’ve had another busy week in Yr 7 Pastoral Care….

  • Students completed Summer Sport registrations on iLearn. If your child is yet to do so, please make this a priority. Every student must complete the iLearn registration form. Details were sent to student emails via the Sports Department.
  • On Monday, Brett Lee presented to Yr 7 about staying safe in the cyber world. Students found information insightful and are already reporting steps they are taking to increase their online security. Useful resources for home reading can be found at the following websites Internet Safe Education, Office of the eSafety Commissioner and Raising Children Network. It was great to see some Yr 7 parents at Brett’s evening presentation.
  • On Tuesday, students were involved in their first Secondary School Leadership voting process, voting for Captains of Activities and Prefects for 2019. Yr 7 also assisted our 2018 Environment Prefects, Marcos and Kat, with emptying the school’s paper recycling. Much fun was had.

  • On Wednesday, students reviewed workload management, completing a Term 3 Planner to assist with managing home learning and assessment. Planners should be appearing in a public location at home shortly – keep your eyes peeled (or check the bottom of  school bags!) Students can find a printable copy of the Term Planner on the Yr 7 Pastoral iLearn Page under Study Skills. There are also a few spare copies in the Year Advisor’s office. To support students at home, more information on workload management can be found in the Study Skills Handbook (usename: redlands | password: 68results).
  • Wednesday night was Yr 7’s first Secondary School Parent Teacher Interviews. We hope that you and your child found the evening a valuable experience in assisting learning. Should subject specific questions arise, please contact subject teachers or Subject Coordinators.
  • On Friday, we sadly farewelled Ms Carolan and wish her the best of luck on her journey to Dubai. In Week 3, we welcome Mr Del Villa to our Yr 7 Pastoral team as the new Tutor for Dumolo Blue.
  • A reminder that Friday is also Jeans for Genes day. Redlands will be dressing in denim, double denim or more denim in support of this good cause. A gold coin donation will be collected during Tutor Time.

The Yr 7 Pastoral team wish you all a happy weekend!
