Yr 12 Privileges
Please could I ask for your assistance to remind your son and daughter about their responsibilities in terms of late arrivals and early departures. When taking advantage of early arrival privileges, students who have Study Periods 1 and 2 are required to sign in and attend Tutor Time. Students who have study periods in the middle of the day do not have permission to sign out and leave campus. Students may only sign out from lunchtime.
International Day
Redlands International Day will be held in Week 10 on Tuesday 30 March and students will be allowed to wear casual (mufti) clothing that is in-line with colours determined by House as outlined below.
Cowper – Spain and Ancient Rome (red and yellow)
Dumolo – China (red)
McDouall – France (red, white and blue)
Roseby – Japan (red and white)
Students are asked to support UNICEF by bringing a gold coin donation.
A photo competition will also be run and students across Yrs 7-12 are invited to submit a photo taken by themselves of something or someone illustrating multiculturalism in Australia by Wednesday of Week 9. A shortlist of five photos for each Year Group will be drawn up with the winners being announced in Week 10.
The Canteen will be selling culturally themed food on the day and students will engage in International Day activities during their Tutor Time.
Yr 12 Wellness Week
Yr 12 Wellness Week will run in Week 10: 29 March-1 April and is designed to give students an “academic breather”. Students do not have assessments scheduled during this week. Students will have an alternative structure for Tutor Times, with time spent in Fahl Garden to connect with peers. In addition, Ms Jansons will run a Mindful Minute Workshop to give students “1 minute” strategies for managing stress which they will be able to apply during stressful situations such as examination periods.
Redlands Cross Country Carnival Results
The Redlands Cross Country Carnival was held last Wednesday 17 March at the Macquarie University Playing Fields. Emma Mahon was the 18 Years Girls Age Champion and Runner Up was Rachel Kinghorn. James Barrelle was the 18 Years Boys Age Champion and Runner Up was Jonah Koppers. Congratulations to these students and to all Yr 12 students who attended on the day – Felix Abrahams, Lachlan Fraser and Theo Mirrlees Black. The feedback from staff was that our Yr 12 students set a wonderful example to students in other years which was lovely to hear. Awards will be given at the End of Term Assembly and the ISA team will be finalised next week.
Student Achievement
Last weekend, Olivia Donoghue competed in the Swimming Open State Championships to qualify for the National Championships in Queensland. She has trained incredibly hard and competed in the 4x100m relay at this event. Her team achieved success and came away with a silver medal. This is a huge achievement and we wish Olivia continued success as she heads to the Nationals with the relay team next month.
