Year 12

Welcome Back

Ms Wilson and I hope that all students and parents had a lovely holiday break, with some time to re-energise before the busy term ahead. Yr 12 hit the ground running this term, with Trials in Weeks 3 and 4, followed by a number of events building towards the end of term. We look forward to working with your children throughout this term, to create positive and lasting memories for them and maximise their academic success.

I would ask that parents remain vigilant of their child’s health – physically, mentally and emotionally. If they are showing any flu-like symptoms, it is imperative that they stay at home, get tested and only return to school once written clearance from NSW Health is sent to the school (including Secondary School Absences, and both myself and Ms Wilson).

Regular check-ins with your son/daughter will play an important role for identifying any areas of concern, both at home and in their Tutor Groups. We encourage all students to speak to their Tutors, teachers and other support staff regularly during this term.

Term 3 is a very busy rollercoaster for Yr 12 but it should also a fun and exciting time for them and we look forward to celebrating the upcoming milestones and supporting them through their final term of school.

Registration for ICAS 2020

The 2020 International Competition and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) in Science will take place on Monday 17 August in school. This competition is undertaken by over 400,000 students across Australia and the region, and is a rigorous test of scientific thinking. Participation in the competition provides our students with excellent examination practice and an opportunity to see how they fare in competition with students of their own age from across the country. Students who are interested in Science can use the test to assess areas of strength and weakness. Success at the test is a way of demonstrating aptitude when applying for Science related opportunities in and out of school.

Entry for students in Yrs 7-10 is voluntary. Please complete the registration form before Monday 3 August if you would like them to take part. A fee of $15.95 will be charged to your account if you wish your child to participate.

More information about ICAS is here. Please contact Ms Simone Bryant, Assistant Science Coordinator, if you have any queries.

Legacy Gift

On Tuesday, the first day of Term 3, Year 12 students participated in the fundraiser Beard Growing / Crazy Hair Competition. Boys grew their facial hair over the holidays, whilst girls came to school with crazy hair! Money was raised towards the Class of 2020 Legacy Gift which is dedicated to purchase a ping pong table and contribute to the means-tested Peter Lennox Scholarship Fund.
