Year 12

Careers and Universities

Thank you to Ms Salier for arranging so many opportunities for Yr 12 students to meet and discuss a variety of tertiary options. On Monday we had Macquarie University visit followed by the UTS Co-op Scholarship talk delivered by Oscar Wilson, Class of 2017, on Tuesday.  On Wednesday we greeted the Claremont McKenna, Pomona & Swarthmore Colleges USA. This was their first visit to Sydney which was exciting given they are ranked highly in the USA. On Thursday we had a workshop on how to write the best UK personal statement/US essay. These experiences assist students to view school as a stepping stone and shift their focus towards their future direction.

Approach to Feedback

Students and parents are reminded to approach the next few weeks as pragmatically as possible. At this stage it’s in everyone’s best interest to receive full and frank feedback that outlines areas of strength and areas for further development. Listing these focus areas will help keep Term 2 in perspective and adopt a growth mindset. Focussing on marks and attempting to calculate an estimated ATAR is neither helpful nor possible. Meeting with Ms Salier is a positive course of action to discuss future options in light of recent feedback.

Community

Thank you to Anna Jackson, Julia Newman, Cara Skirrow and Thea Sullivan who gave up their personal time to assist some younger students with their Language assessments. Their help was very much appreciated and was during their own two week examination period. Thank you also to Kat Stuart and Marcos Brisson for successfully initiating and managing the introduction of paper recycling bins on the entire Senior Campus. This was a mammoth task that displayed their exceptional teamwork and leadership.
