Year 12

Pastoral Care

It is great to see Yr 12 have started the year with the right attitude and frame of mind. We are only a couple of weeks into the new school year and our boys and girls seem to have already switched from summer holiday mode to productive work mode. The focus of Tutor Time this week is dedicated for refocusing and planning, through setting personal goals and checking assessment notifications. Mindfulness activities led by Tutors have also been implemented to provide strategies for students to cope better with their busy lives and keeping cool, especially as multiple deadlines are approaching at times. We would also like to reinforce a message to all students that “you have a broad network of support and all you need to do is to simply ask for help.”

Study Skills

There are some useful and relevant resources for both Yr 12 students and parents, such as how to keep track and schedule using the Planner effectively and mental health strategies. Dr Prue Salter will also run a Yr 12 workshop on Monday 2 September during school time, which is designed to prepare students for their HSC/IB exams.   

Careers and Universities 

It is strongly recommended to all Yr 12 students that they, if they have not already, make an appointment with Ms Salier (Careers and Universities Advisor) during this term. They can do this by emailing an expression of interest and available times. Possible times include Tutor Time, Recess, Lunch Time, a study period or after school. Regular appointments are best as plans can change, opportunities can arise and keeping updated with academic progress is important. Parents are welcome to attend these meetings with prior notice to ensure you have a seat. Every Tutor Time on Thursday this term will be dedicated to guest speakers from various universities to introduce their latest news such as ANU, UNSW, Sydney University and UCL.  

An Information Evening specifically for Yr 12 will be held on Monday 11 February at 6.40pm for 40 mins at Redlands Hall.  

Yr 12 HSC/ IB Parent Teacher Night 

The Yr 12 HSC/IB Parent Teacher Night will be held on Wednesday 13 Feburary in Redlands Gym, from 5.00 – 8.00pm. An email has been sent out to all parents with the link to request appointments. If you have any questions in relation to booking appointments, please contact Ms Jones in the Secondary School Office or via email at sjones@redlands.nsw.edu.au. 

School Photographs

If you ordered a sibling photograph, please note that they will take place on Wednesday 13 March. Advanced Life are also offering a ten day grace period for parents and carers who forgot to order school photographs online.
