University and Careers Update

Continue to encourage your teen to make an appointment with our University and Careers Advisors who are scheduling back-to-back meetings with students to organise their Yr 12 Career Plan. This plan can include a wide range of paths after graduation and students are encouraged to engage with this plan and use it as a working document to best support them.

Also, regularly check the University and Careers Page in Pulse. A news article with up-to-date information will be posted weekly.

Alumni Visitors

Throughout Yr 11 and 12, students have been afforded the opportunity to listen, engage with and learn from Redlands alumni who have regularly been invited to speak to our cohort, thanks to the efforts of our Alumni Community Engagement Coordinator, Kim Flatman, and our Careers Advisors, Justine Fowler and Claire Hurst.

Next week, we invite back Finn Cottee, Redlander from 2015, who will speak with students interested in biomechanical engineering. He attended Sydney University, earned his Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Biomedical Engineering), Mechanical Engineering in 2020. In Yr 12, he took Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics 2U, Chemistry, Physics, Ancient History, History Extension, and Advanced English. He now works for Medtronic Neurovascular

2024 Redlands Cross-Country

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Secondary School Cross Country Carnival at Macquarie University Playing Fields last Thursday. 

Below is a list of the Age champions and Runners Up Age Champions from Yr 12. Congratulations to Cowper for winning the overall carnival based upon House points.

Congratulations and best of luck to Alissandra Braden who is competing this week on the Australian Sailing National Youth Squad after qualifying as 3rd Youth ILCA 6 sailor in the Olympic Class at the Australian National Championships in January.

Congratulations and best of luck to Indi Hindmarsh and Tristan Wong for participating in the ISA Touch Football Trials this week at Macquarie University Fields.

Congratulations to Jasmine Black for being selected to play regularly in recent weeks for the Sydney FC Team! Watch a game and continue to cheer her on as she embraces this opportunity!

Rise to the Challenge: Join the 2024 Balmoral Burn Schools Relay

Get ready to unleash your potential and join the 2024 Balmoral Burn Schools Relay! Students from Years 7–12, get ready to conquer Sydney’s steepest street in Mosman for a noble cause. Join Redlands for the Humpy Dumpty Balmoral Burn Schools Relay on 26 May, 7:30 to 9:30 am. This event isn’t just about the challenge; it supports sick children nationwide. Founded by Phil Kearns AM to thank the Royal North Shore Hospital, the Balmoral Burn aids hospitals through the Humpty Dumpty Foundation. Students can form teams of four, aiming to raise $250 per team for the cause. Separate races will be held for boys and girls. Email Mr. Walker your team by the end of Week 1, Term 2, to participate.
