Swimming Carnival

The energy and spirit were infectious yesterday as the students participated at the highest rate in 2024 cohort history! Yr 12 stepped into the bleachers in full costume, embraced their theme of “Under the Sea,” encouraged younger years to “give it a go” and then hit the water with a splash as they participated in all the events for their last time at a Secondary School Swimming Carnival.

Standout costumes and contributions throughout the day included four sharks who swam their way around the carnival giving out high fives, a Beach Watch patrol person who was capturing memorable moments on camera, three red lobsters entertaining the crowd with tunes, a dedicated sea turtle who did not give up on his house to cheer the loudest, high energy flag wavers, water sport enthusiasts ready for their next adventure, Hawaiian travellers and beachgoers enjoying their time poolside. Did you ask what happens when a penguin, a pirate and a sailor walk into a pool together? They have a swimmingly good time.

Several students continued to impress with their incredible results. The level of competition was strong and these students deserve a well-earned congratulations. A special mention to Xander Halfen who set 3 new records!

A truly heartfelt thanks goes to our incredible Sport Department, the Heads of House and our 2024 House Captains. House Captains took time to care for younger students in their houses, they role-modelled involvement and worked with staff in a caring and encouraging way to sort the events throughout the day, to manage the stands, lead cheers and organise the student-staff relay. Thank you to all students and staff who volunteered to race in this memorable competition.
