Year 12

Yr 12 Unite For Their House Morning Teas

The House Morning Teas were unforgettable occasions, that allowed for each Yr 12 House to take a moment and truly appreciate the journey they have embarked on during their time at Redlands. The morning teas were filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and gratitude.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the House Captains: Yasmin Coletran, Joe Griffiths, Daisy Oliver, Oscar Whatmough, Lachlan Binnekamp, Isabella Havryk, Briar Carter and Patrick Walker. Their leadership and commitment to their respective Houses have been instrumental in creating a sense of belonging and unity among the Secondary School students. They all set a shining example for all of us to follow.

Thank you also to the Heads of House: Ms Claudia De Leo, Mr Joseph Montz, Mr Alex Thomas, and Ms Ashleigh Moore. Their guidance, support, and unwavering belief in each of the House Captains have been pivotal over the last 12 months.

A special mention is also due to Kim Flatman and Dana Casimaty from the Redlands Foundation for their efforts and commitment to making this event so special. It provided the perfect backdrop for us to come together and reflect on the past six years and look towards the future as the Class of 2023 become Alumni. Dana and Kim also provided Yr 12 with a Redlands Rhino plush toy as a special gift to remember Redlands.

The highlight of the House Morning Tea was undoubtedly the opportunity for Yr 12 to gather in their House Groups, sharing stories and reminiscing about their experiences from Yr 7 to Yr 12. It was also an opportunity for Yr 12 to give thanks to the many staff who have supported them throughout their Redlands Secondary School Journey including key staff such as the Yr 12 Tutors, Mr Darren Taylor and Ms Lucy Benjamin. The collage of nostalgic photos adorning the photo wall was a brilliant touch that brought back countless memories. Each image told a story, and together, they encapsulated the essence of each House Tutor Groups journey at Redlands.

Yr 12 are Now Money Confident!

Money Vest’s Dominic Aarsen’s recent visit to Redlands High School brought forth an essential message: the significance of financial education transcends economic status. With experience in both upscale wealth management and financial empowerment initiatives, Dominic’s journey highlighted the universal need for effective money management tools. His establishment of Money Vest underscores the importance of financial literacy for everyone, regardless of their financial background.

Moving from catering to the ultra-rich to founding Money Vest showcased Dominic’s transformation from serving the privileged few to empowering the masses. His insight that financial goals are shared across all strata of society dispels the notion that money solely divides us. Money Vest’s mission, aimed at educators, students, and parents, emphasizes the democratization of financial understanding. Through practical workshops, the “Money Confidence” program equips students with actionable skills, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

The crux of Money Vest’s objective is simple yet impactful: to provide the financial wisdom we often lack upon leaving school. This resonates particularly with the Yr 12 students at Redlands, on the brink of independence. As they step into the world equipped with newfound financial knowledge, they are better prepared to navigate life’s fiscal intricacies.

Dominic’s journey and Money Vest’s mission align with Redlands’ commitment to empowerment, offering a lasting lesson in financial confidence for the Yr 12 cohort and beyond.

IB Drama Performance Success

Well done to the following IB students who performed their Solo Performance examinations last Friday. IB Theatre students were required to explore a theatre theorist’s work and apply a major convention to their own work and to their individually selected theatre materials. Every IB student performed brilliantly and it was evident that a considerable amount of time and effort was invested in their performances.
