Year 12

Welcome back to Term 2 for the class of 2022. I hope your families all had a wonderful rest during the Easter break. Many Yr 12 students also made effective use of the studying opportunities available for them on campus over the holiday period, which was great to see. The Half-Yearly assessments over the past week and a half of Term 2 have proceeded very smoothly and it was a pleasure to note how mature and calm most students have approached these assessments. On Wednesday this week we met for the first time this term as a Year Group for a workshop run by the organisation ‘MoneyVest’, helping Yr 12 students understand superannuation and their options, investing and saving, payslips, budgeting and moving out of home.

Yr 12 Camp

In the last week of Term 1, we finally made it on camp! Despite the need to change the date three times and the venue twice, we were able to get away to the Blue Mountains for 2 nights and 3 days, returning a day early due to heavy rain. All students had a wonderful time participating in activities such as mountain biking, horse riding, bush walking and yoga, as well as having some time to study and chat with their friends. In the evenings we held a trivia night, hosted brilliantly by Amber Williams and Joel Keith, and a movie night. On the final morning we had a time for reflection where students read the letters that they had written to themselves in Yr 7, followed by the letters written by parents and then they wrote a letter to themselves that we will post to them before they begin their final examinations. This was quite an emotional time for many, particularly as they read their parents’ letters of love and support during their final year of school. Due to the need to leave the Blue Mountains a day early, and the fact that we have all become experts at making last minute changes to plans and being able to adapt the situation to best suit everyone, we were able to host the final camp dinner – the ‘Oscar’ night, dress as a celebrity dinner in Redlands Hall on the Thursday evening, with a special thanks going to our wonderful comperes for the evening, Kyle Banfield and Louise Colin (photos to come next week!).
