Year 12

Welcome Back

This week we welcome back our IB cohort on Wednesday and HSC candidates on Thursday. Alongside the opportunity for students to reconnect with their peers and teachers, we hope that Yr 12 2021 take the outcomes of Trial Examinations in their stride. As results and feedback for specific subjects arrive, please help your young adult make use of the experience in all of its outcomes. Where there is joy and relief, investigate what worked. Where there is disappointment, there is potential. The purpose of the Trial Examinations is to provide students the practical opportunity to consolidate and refine their study habits and examination technique, along with concrete data on which aspects of content and or approach might be adjusted. A good starting point to evaluate and understand both success and areas for development is the marking criteria for each of the subjects.

Dr Prue Salter

Next Tuesday, 7th September from 10-30am to 11:30am Dr Prue Salter will meet with our Yr 12 students via Zoom to discuss next steps after the recent Trial Examinations. Dr Salter will offer students strategies for maintaining motivation as well as techniques to refine their approach to revision, as we move into the next weeks and prepare for final examinations.

Wellbeing Wednesday – Week 9

On Wednesday 8 September, Redlands Secondary students will spend the day with their Year Groups  engaging in a series of wellbeing activities. While Yr 12 will not be participating in this day in the same way as Yr 7-11, we encourage them to engage in some form of self-care throughout Wednesday. In addition, there will be no formal classes for Yr 12 on this day. Instead, students can use the time to reach out to their teachers for their 1:1 feedback conversations regarding the Trial results and best paths forward.

Friday Night Live – Week 9

Our Arts Captains, Maddison Hunt and Felix Abraham, are organising a “Friday Night Live” on 10 September at 5pm. Performances will be streamed via Zoom and Redlands is hoping to showcase several students from each Year performing a 2-3 minute act.

Students wishing to be involved should submit a video of their act to the Friday Night Live assignment page in the iLearn Student Leaders course. The performance can be vocal, theatre, instrumental, dance, comedy, rap,  poetry reading – anything to showcase your talent and creativity.

Performers will then be chosen to take part on the night. We are hoping to build a diverse, entertaining and amazing repertoire of performances, so get as creative as possible! Submissions will remain open until Monday 6 September.

Thank you to Maddie and Felix for coming up with this initiative to bring the community together.
