Year 11

This morning we were able to gather together for our first Chapel Service as a group and not via Zoom, which was wonderful. Our Service was in Redlands Hall with students appropriately physically distanced and the focus of Chapel being on Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Our Service Captains Harry and Laura also spoke and launched the Matthew Talbot appeal for 2020, asking Yr 12 to bring in five dollars to contribute to the bulk purchase of socks and other items for Matthew Talbot Hostel. It has been exciting to witness our new Leaders on Gate Duty in the mornings and afternoons as they step up to their new responsibilities.

New to our Yr 12 Year Group is Paula Sampaio Little, who started with us on Tuesday. Paula comes to us from North Carolina and we wish her and her family all the best as they transition to life in Australia.

A reminder that students need to send in their Year 12 Privileges form if they have not yet done so. This can be handed in to the Student Services Centre or emailed. There was much excitement when I handed boys their Yr 12 tie today. We had all been waiting patiently on the shipment and it was terrific to see the energy when our boys received them. I am hoping that all ties will arrive safely home today, it would be greatly appreciated if you could encourage your boy to name his tie, in the event that it may become lost.

In Tutor Time yesterday, our Tutors gave a presentation to their respective groups on ‘Common Mistakes that Students Make in Exams’. Many thanks to Jenny Dow for providing the resource that was re-versioned for this presentation. Please click here to view the presentation.

Canteen National Bandanna Day

Every day 63 young people in Australia will be faced with a cancer diagnosis, be that one of their own, or that of a family member or friend. While a cancer diagnosis is always devastating, it can be particularly challenging in a young person’s world. To show our support for young Aussies facing this hardship, Redlands will be participating in National Bandanna Day. Our Service Captains will be selling a variety of bandannas throughout Week 2 in preparation for Friday 23 October, when everyone is invited to wear their bandanna at school to show all young Aussies that we are in their corner when they need it most. Students can purchase bandannas for $5.00.
