Year 11
Paul Dillon Talk
Earlier this week, Paul Dillon, a very well-known and respected expert on topics relating to student health and wellbeing, gave an engaging talk to our Yr 11 cohort on a range of topics, including driving, alcohol and drugs. This is the second time that he has spoken to Yr 11s since last year and his talks are always well received by the students. I would encourage parents to chat with their child about these topics at a suitable time.
Gala Arts
Gala Arts is one of my favourite school events. This is the one night of the year in which students’ hidden talents are revealed to the larger school community, and we get a sense of the richness of their extracurricular lives. Each year, the line-up of talent is truly outstanding and includes theatre, dance, vocal and instrumental categories. Every performance will bring a particular Redlands flavour of flair and spectacle to a terrific and varied evening. Good luck to all the Yr 11 students involved in this year’s Gala Arts event this Friday.
Red Shield Appeal
Last Sunday morning, 76 students demonstrated their generosity of spirit by donating their time to the Red Shield Appeal drive to raise funds for the Salvation Army. This involves the very daunting task of knocking on doors to seek donations. The enthusiasm of students in putting together for this event is really impressive. Their efforts were rewarded with a huge taking – nearly $5000 raised over a two hour period! We are so proud of our boys and girls for this colossal effort and great success.
Correction—Updated Date for Yr 11 Meningococcal Vaccinations
Please be aware of a correction regarding the up-coming vaccinations. The Yr 11 vaccinations are taking place on 11 September, not 19 June. Apologies for the confusion.
