Year 11
Pastoral Care
“It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.” Nelson Mandela
During Tutor Time this term our focus is on leadership. Students will explore many inspirational leaders from around the world. The emphasis will be on the qualities and attributes that are indicative of respected leaders and how we can incorporate those qualities into everyday life. We will also explore how students can become leaders within Redlands and the wider community.
Red Shield Appeal
The Salvo’s Red Shield Door Knock Appeal is coming up this Sunday 26 May. The Red Shield Appeal is The Salvation Army’s signature fundraising drive which helps fund their vast network of social and community services.
The Red Shield Appeal began in 1965 and is promoted under their recognisable symbol – the red shield. Each year, The Salvation Army appeals to the Australian community for donations to ensure we can give hope where it is needed most through our social welfare and community service programs.
Every year a small army of Redlands Yr 11 students conduct the door knock around our local Cremorne community. We will be looking for about 100 students to team up into groups of four. They will be allocated a zone with specific streets to cover. We meet at school on Sunday 26 May at 8.30am and after completing their territory, they return to school to bank the funds and have a BBQ. Please encourage your child to participate.
Gala Arts
I know that there has been a lot of preparation for Gala Arts and it is shaping up to be a fantastic event. Tickets are selling fast so if you haven’t already purchased your tickets you will need to get in quick.
Yr 12 (2020) School Jersey
A very big THANK YOU to all parents for getting their child’s jersey form into the Uniform Shop on time. It was a huge effort and we pulled it off!
Sport
Good luck to Katherine Stanbridge and Scarlet Thomas who are competing at the CIS Football tournament next week.
Best of luck to those students who are competing in sporting events this weekend. I know there a number of tough matches throughout the different sporting codes.
