Year 11
Thank You
Last Friday during Recess, anyone who walked through busy Liggins Quad would have thought they were accidentally walking through an open air food market! Both sides of the Quad were lined with seasonal fruit platters, home baked sweets and patisseries, freshly made sushi and tasty cheese boards. This wonderful morning tea was hosted by the RPFA and the Service Prefects – Isabel Binnekamp and Lachlan van der Pluijm, to pamper all our wonderful teachers in celebrating World Teachers’ Day. I believe this wonderful and kind initiative was truly appreciated by all teachers. Thank you to all the students who helped with the catering service.
HSC Science Extension Excursion to Sydney University
The new HSC Science Extension course started last week, and we are delighted with the interest shown by our first cohort of Yr 12 students participating in this exciting opportunity. A class of nine students is embarking on the course, which culminates in an individual Science Research Report modelling the work done by scientists in authentic situations. As such, students are encouraged to make connections with current researchers doing real science, and took part in a workshop run by the University of Sydney last Friday to get the ball rolling. A further workshop, being offered exclusively to Redlands students by UTS, will take place in late November, so watch this space for updates on our students’ projects!
