Last Day of Yr 11 HSC and IB Examinations

Congratulations to all students for completing their first two-week examination block as an HSC or IB student. Yr 11 have conducted themselves extremely well throughout this period, creating study plans, executing and following study plans, utilising the flexibility in time and space in the Library and Learning Hub and presenting early to ensure they were in the right mindset as they entered the examination rooms. Mrs Katharine Boase, Mr Darren Taylor, Mrs Jane Sharman, Mrs Lucy Benjamin, Mrs Lisa Ole and all supervising teachers have been extremely impressed with their serious approach to examinations. Well done to all students.

We look forward to welcoming Yr 11 back to regular lessons tomorrow. They will also have their Yr 11 Camp Briefing during Tutor and Leadership announcements at Lunch in Liggins Quad.

Students will be receiving examination feedback throughout the remainder of term. During Tutor, students will be asked to reflect on their preparation, their performance and what they might do differently next time. They will also be asked to reflect on how they felt during this examination block and consider possible strategies to assist with some common feelings: Felt rushed, made careless errors, ran out of time, mind went blank, misread or misinterpreted questions or felt very stressed or anxious.

Student Congratulations

Isaac Brooks competed in the U18s 800m at the ISA/GPS Invitational Carnival at ES Marks on Saturday. He finished in a close 2nd place with a 3 second Personal Best of 1:54s which is 5 seconds under the Australian Athletics Championships U18 qualifying standard (1:59.00). An exceptional result! Congratulations Isaac!

Daisy Thomas has been competing in the Junior Worlds Ski Championships over these last three weeks. She has been managing examinations, competitions and learning a lot in this process. We wish her all the best as she continues to compete in the Obsidian Team Challenge as part of Winter Games and other possible invitationals before she returns to Sydney. Congratulations to Daisy and we look forward to welcoming her back soon!

Congratulations to Alissandra Braden who has just been identified by the Australian Olympic Committee and Australian Sailing as a reserve sailor for the Pacific Games in November. She has been identified as a top sailor in Australia and looks forward to competing in the Queensland Youth State Championships in Queensland as well as the Sail Melbourne International Championships later this year.
