Integrity and Wisdom
This week’s Chapel service was dedicated to integrity and wisdom. Students were asked to consider various scenarios and evaluate where they stood with their morals and how they would feel when judging appropriate responses in tricky situations. For Yr 11, part of their integrity is demonstrated through their honesty and their actions that demonstrate their moral principles. Students are also in the process of building stronger relationships with their teachers and developing trust with other year groups and staff members as they move into the position of leaders of the school.
Toward the end of Tutor, students were asked to consider a few situations they encounter daily at school and how small changes in their behaviour can demonstrate their honesty and help to build trust with those around them. In Yr 12, students also earn privileges by demonstrating their integrity and wisdom.
These small daily behaviours that demonstrate student’s integrity and wisdom include: saying hello to staff on duty whether they know them or not, respecting requests by staff during Recess and Lunch, taking ownership over their space during breaks and ensuring they leave the space better than they found it, following school rules, wearing their uniform correctly and proudly as well as engaging with peers appropriately throughout the day. These small changes send an impactful message to everyone around them.
Yr 11 are Stepping Up as Leaders
Well done to all students continuing to seek leadership opportunities and ways to get involved across campus. There is an eagerness and energy in the air for this cohort and they are encouraged to continue to embrace opportunities afforded to them. Students are volunteering their time to assist with Chapel services, organising Jeans for Genes Day this Friday, coaching Yrs 7-10 in Inter-House Debating, Meeting and Greeting at the gates and volunteering to assist Junior School students. Well done to Yr 11!
