Year 11
There are a number of exciting events that are providing leadership opportunities for students in Yr 11 and it is wonderful to see so many of them step-up and be involved in these events. In particular, recent opportunities include:
- Meeting and greeting all staff and students on gate duty last week and this Monday, due to Yr 12 being unavailable on an assessment block.
- Assisting throughout the year at Matthew Talbot Shelter by serving breakfast on Mondays, with different students participating each week.
- Chaperoning Alumni guests at Redlands Platinum Girls Luncheon that celebrates women who left Redlands 50+ years ago.
- Two events involving the Junior School, assisting current and potential Redlands students and parents in tours of the Secondary School and speaking to parents.
Student Achievements
Congratulations to the following students for their success recently in the following areas:
- Erik Scott on his selection for the NSW CIS Swimming Championships.
- Ben Harrington on his sailing achievements in particular over the last school holidays, in which he won in the All School Teams division and competed in the Victorian Youth Championships.
- The Yr 11 Mock Trial team, consisting of Louise Colin, Charlotte Harman, Sophia Maxwell, Sophie McMillan, Jack Murray and Callum Wardman-Browne, who had their second win of the year on Tuesday evening against North Sydney Boys School, with a strong performance in a criminal trial regarding fraud. In the next round they will be fighting a civil trial against Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College.
Pastoral Program
This term the Tutor Groups will spend time understanding a number of different topics, some of which have been suggested by the students themselves as areas they would like to know more about. The Pastoral Program’s overall area will be about healthy lifestyles, focusing on addiction of various substances such as vaping, drugs and alcohol, as well as addiction of technology and social media. The Social Awareness Program will continue to look at diversity, with a focus this term on the LGBTQIA community to develop a better understanding of this section of our community. Our Careers Advisor, Simone Salier, will continue to visit each Tutor Group this term, providing information on life after school, with an overall focus this term on ‘thinking globally’. In addition, there are a number of universities visiting the school this term, either face-to-face or virtually via Zoom, such as Notre Dame, UNSW, New York, Melbourne, UCL London and Macquarie. Please encourage your child to keep up-to-date with all relevant year information on our Pastoral iLearn page.
Have a great week!
