Year 10
Anzac Commemorative Service
On Tuesday we commemorated Anzac Day with a Secondary School Service in Dunnet Hall on the Junior Campus. We were fortunate to hear the formal address delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Colin Morrison and Lieutenant Colonel Karen Such from Royal Australian Armoured Corps. A number of our Yr 10 students held key roles in the Service, Gianni Watson read the Opening Prayer, Megan Price gave the Bible reading, Ruby Brook and Emma Mahon gave a historical reflection on the Anzac spirit and Ela Yohannan read the Prayer for Deployed Military Personnel. The community were very impressed by the articulate and thoughtful contributions delivered by these students.
RKMAiR – Redlands Konica Minolta Artist in Residence
The Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize Collection can be viewed on the Senior Campus as part of this year’s Redlands Konica Minolta Artist in Residence Program on Thursday evening 16 May, from 6.00-8.30 pm. The Collection, created as a direct result of the acquisitive Prize over 22 years, is a remarkable collection of artworks which provide a unique and valuable teaching tool. The collection includes artworks from notable Australian Contemporary artists Imants Tillers, Ben Quilty, Lindy Lee amongst others.
Parents will also have an opportunity to meet Australian Contemporary artist Cameron Robbins, who is leading the Redlands Konica Minolta Artist in Residence (RKMAIR) program in 2019. Cameron Robbins will be at Redlands 6-17 May working with students and staff through the creation of a site responsive artwork on the Senior Campus.
Tickets available here. Drinks and canapés will be served during the evening. This is a parent only event. For more information, please visit our website.
Uniform
As per Mr Corcoran’s Term 2 Welcome Letter, I reiterate the School’s expectations for student uniform. Please could I request that you help to ensure that students are in proper winter uniform to start the term and that their appearance complies with our dress expectations (as outlined in the Student Planner and in the Uniform section of Redlands Pulse). Please ensure that hem lengths are appropriate (girls’ dress lengths should be on the knee) and boys’ hair is cut so that it is off the collar and neat and tidy. A reminder that students are required to wear their blazers to and from school during Terms 2 and 3. Students will receive infringements for hair and uniform if not rectified by the commencement of Week 2 of this term.
Pre-Winter Representative Sports Camp in Berry
Mr Walker took a number of our Yr 10 students to Berry during the second week of the school holidays for the Pre-Winter Representative Sports Camp. The Camp was located at Berry Sport and Rec and students were able to enjoy the fresh air and rural environment of the 100 acre property. Key skills such as strategy, communication and collaboration were developed through skill based training and fitness activities. Mr Walker commented upon how well behaved and engaged our Yr 10 students were.
