Year 10
Yr 10 Pastoral Program
During this term, Yr 10 will be exploring the themes of Racism and Cyber Racism during our Tutor Time. Tutors will be using the Face up to Racism online educational resource which was written by the NSW Department of Education and journalists from SBS. Results from a study commissioned by SBS with the University of Western Sydney reveal that one in five Australians has experienced racism in the last 12 months. This study has been one of the largest conducted to focus specifically on racism and prejudice in Australia. We feel that now is an important time for our Yr 10 students to gain an understanding about the reasons, consequences and prevention of both racism and cyber racism so that they will become responsible and empathetic global citizens.
Swimming Carnival Permission
Our annual Redlands Secondary School Swimming Carnival will be held in Week 4, Tuesday 19 February at Sydney Olympic Park Swimming Pool, Homebush. Please access Redlands Pulse to grant online permission for your child if you have not already done so, for this compulsory school event. Your timely attention to this task is appreciated. Information regarding this event was emailed to parents on Monday 4 February.
Yr 10 Careers Evening
Yr 10 Tertiary Education Meeting for Yr 10 students and parents will be held on Monday 11 February. Each of the senior years will have a dedicated timeslot during this evening, Yr 10 from 6.00 – 6.40pm. Ms Simone Salier will use this time to disseminate important information relating to the Careers assessment program, Bridge-U (IT platform for university and career readiness), Industry Visit Day and Career readiness structure which is embedded within our Pastoral Program. At this time in the learning journey students should be beginning to think about their future path and Ms Simone Salier is a wonderful mentor for students. Should you have any questions or queries about careers or university options for your son/ daughter, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Salier to discuss or make an appointment.
