Year 10
Yr 10 Camp
Yr 10 all enjoyed a fantastic camp last week with a range of activities including hiking, canoeing and mountain bike riding. The weather was very kind to us and the location was exceptionally beautiful. It is incredible to reflect on the range of skills that Yr 10 have acquired over the last four camps, including navigation, team leadership, and the all-important camp fire cooking skills. Not without its challenges at times, camp always brings rich rewards and we are very proud of the resilience and positivity with which they approached their week at Myall Lakes. A special thank you to all the staff who led camp groups throughout the program.
Australian Business Week
Next week, Yr 10s will be involved in Australian Business Week, a project-based learning experience that develops enterprise skills which are keenly sought in workplaces. Students will be assigned authentic roles in contemporary business environments and will work in teams to compete against each other. Students will be wearing full school uniform all week. We are very grateful to the parent mentors or guest speakers who will be contributing their time and expertise to the program.
Service and Christmas Donations for Matthew Talbot Hostel
It is worth noting that now is the time for students to sign up to participate in the breakfast service at the Matthew Talbot Hostel for next year. We are also collecting Christmas donations in Tutor Groups. Please see full details in the Service section of Note Day.
Yr 10 Science Symposium
Congratulations to the winners in the Yr 10 Science Symposium that took place today. The following students received commendations: Jennifer Grant was awarded Best Communication, Roxy Quinn was awarded the Most Impressive Scientific Methodology, Lachlan Roland-Kenn was awarded Most Original Idea and the top award for overall achievement went to Ella Burgess. Thank you to the Science department for such an engaging project that was embraced wholeheartedly by the entire Year Group.
Yr 11 Advisor 2019
Mr Atkins will be taking on the role of Yr 11 Advisor for 2019. I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Pastoral Care which has given me the opportunity to support a wonderful group of young people and their families on their journey through high school. Mr Atkins has been an outstanding Assistant Year Advisor, and will lead them very capably through the next year and a half, supported by Ms Rachel Wilson, as Assistant Yr 11 Advisor.
