Year 10
Go the Matildas!
The Matildas storming into the semi-finals has been an absolute blast of excitement, and our Yr 10 students showed their support as they donned the green and gold on Wednesday. This is more than just a sports moment – it’s a game-changer for women in sports history. The Matildas are laying down a marker for the future, telling all the young girls out there that they can kick butt on any field they choose. What an exciting time to be supporting such a wonderful group of women.
Service Project
Yr 10 students were fortunate to listen to Paul Bramble from St Johns Community Services this week. Paul shared some of his life story, and how he overcame significant trauma, mental illness and drug addiction to arrive at a place of stability with strong faith and connections. Paul has also found joy in his freelance photography work and can hardly believe he gets asked to photograph events like Australian Fashion Week and the Logies!
Wellbeing Bubbles
Wellbeing is important for students. It’s not just about staying physically healthy, but also feeling good mentally and emotionally. When students have good wellbeing, they handle stress better, focus more, and become stronger when facing difficulties. Taking care of wellbeing helps students do well in school, feel happier, and build better relationships. It’s like giving them the right tools to succeed in school and life. Yr 10 will be engaging in a number of different wellbeing activities each week during Tutor Time.
City2Surf
The City2Surf, an iconic annual event, is a thrilling road race that captures the essence of community, fitness, and fun. Participants from all walks of life gather to traverse the 14km’s of picturesque course, which spans from the city to one of the world’s most famous beaches, Bondi. This year’s event witnessed the remarkable achievements of two dedicated runners, Sarah Zeppel and Amynta Field. For Amynta, it marked her debut in the race, a momentous occasion that showcased her determination and grit. Meanwhile, Sarah, a seasoned runner, made a triumphant return to the City2Surf. The duo embarked on the challenging course together, and they not only accomplished a shared goal but also recorded an impressive time of 1:27:54, showcasing their remarkable fitness and perseverance. Their accomplishment stands as a testament to the spirit of unity and personal achievement that the City2Surf represents.
